Travelling on the hop with kids we’ve all been caught out without the proper car-seat. In taxis, grabbing or giving lifts to friends, outings with grandparents, it’s so easy to find yourself a car-seat or two short. So take a look at the mifold. A revolution in car-seat design that offers the same protection as a booster seat, but is small enough to fold up and put in a backpack or small shopper.

More than ten times smaller than a regular booster, it is small and tough and fits in any car wherever you’re heading. Nicknamed the grab-and-go booster seat, mifold is a backless booster seat and, like all booster seats, is designed to ensure that an adult car seatbelt is comfortable and effective when used by a child.

So how does the mifold work? Well, when a child uses an adult seat belt its position on the hips and the chest can cause significant injury in a collision. A regular booster seat elevates the child so the bones of the hips are lifted to meet the lap belt and the bones of the shoulder are raised to meet the chest strap. mifold does the exact opposite. Instead of lifting up the child, mifold holds the seatbelt down, holding the lap belt down to fit securely on the bones of the hips and pulling the chest strap down to fit securely on the bones of the shoulder.

The lap belt guides are attached to the end of the adjustable arms that can be set to locate the belt guides close to the outside of the child’s thighs. The chest belt guide is attached to the end of the shoulder strap and can be adjusted so that it is always at the height of your child’s shoulder.

Suitable for children aged from 4 to 12, mifold is a Group 2/3 seat and can be used by children from the weight of 15kg and until they exceed the UK requirements (currently 135 cm or 12 years old).
