    REDEFINING THE FAMILY ROAD TRIP EXPERIENCE: A REVIEW OF THE MIFOLD BOOSTER SEAT

    I was provided a Mifold for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own. 

    As a firm believer that travel should include the entire family, I'm always on the lookout for newer, better, and more efficient products that make family travel possible.

    One of the most annoying things that I've had to navigate while traveling with two kids is the car seat. I want to keep my kids safe first and foremost, but that still doesn't stop me from cursing furiously in my head every time I have to contort myself in unnatural positions to remove my kids' car seats when we need to transfer them for travel.

    Even when you get to check a car seat for free, the process of hauling a massive booster or car seat through the airport to the check-in counter is anything but fun.

    Plus, when you're out sightseeing in New York or London or Paris, and you want to catch a taxi or Uber to your next location, you either have to haul your booster seat around with you (typically not feasible since they're so large) or pray you don't get in an accident and strap your small child into the backseat of a taxi without a booster seat at all (no thanks).

    An Easy, Safe Solution

    Thanks to the ingenious Mifold booster seat, you don't have to make compromises when it comes to your child's safety when traveling in a car or taxi. Instead of waiting around for an Uber that might or might not have the booster seat it promises, you can carry around the tiny Mifold in your purse or backpack and have that safety right where you need it when you need it.

    But how does it do everything a traditional booster seat does while being so small?

    Answer: instead of moving the child up to the height of an adult strap like a traditional booster does, the Mifold moves the shoulder and lap belts lower to ensure your child is safe. The adjustment process is easy and does not require me to deal with latches or additional straps or contorting myself in odd positions to get the tension correct.

    You thread the lapbelt through the red prongs on either side of the base and click the belt in. You then ensure the correct placement of the shoulder harness with the attached clasp: adjust the clasp height and snap. And that's it. Your kid is ready to go!

    For daily use, we keep Britton in a car seat with a 5-point harness, but she's big enough (by weight and height) to use a booster seat as well.

     

      The Mifold comes in 6 colors (we got the denim blue ) and is easy to spot clean if your kid is messy. It's also great for kids who carpool--no moving seats in and out constantly--or families who have to seat 3 kids across the back seat.
